RESDUR Rosé variety

Origin :

Varietal selection is currently very « effervescent » in order to live up to the expectations of the wine growing profession, which is concerned with producing wines with minimal input, to satisfy the demands of society and participate fully in the sustainable development process.

Past selection programmes did not specifically include this colour, which is now prominent in the French and international viticultural landscape : Rosé. Such is the case of the INRA (National Institute of Agronomic Research) programme, Resdur, which resulted in 3 generations of varieties of which the first, after a VATE (Agronomical, Technological and Environmental Value) phase, saw the inscription of certain genotypes in the catalogue. The two last generations follow the VATE procedure in which the vinification of varieties is only envisaged in red or white.

2019-2021

Objectives :

• To evaluate the aptitude of INRA ResDur varieties for the production of rosé in the Mediterranean vineyard, with little use of œnological input and which privilege bio control.
• To provide wine growers with helpful information in the decision on making rosé wines from varieties that are already registered in the catalogue.
• To give an extra capacity in making quality rosé wine, for the cases of varieties that are currently being studied.
